WHMCS notifications your clients actually read
Email open rates for invoices are dismal and SMS costs add up. This free WHMCS module delivers invoice notices, ticket replies, and service updates straight to WhatsApp - from your own number, at no per-message cost.
How it works
Connect your number
Sign up, scan a QR - your company WhatsApp number becomes the sender.
Upload the addon
Copy the whatsappapi folder to modules/addons/, activate it in System Settings.
Toggle your notifications
Invoice created, invoice paid, ticket replies, service activation, client welcome - each with an editable template.
Run on autopilot
Client numbers come from their WHMCS profile automatically. Failures log to the Activity Log.
What you get
Invoice created & paid notices
Amount, due date, and a direct payment link - unpaid invoices chased on the channel clients actually check.
Ticket reply alerts
Clients know instantly when staff answer - fewer 'any update?' tickets.
Service activation messages
Welcome new services (with domain name) the moment provisioning completes.
Admin order alerts
New order? Your phone buzzes. Review and accept faster than your competitors.
An SMS alternative that's free per message
No SMS gateway contracts or per-message billing - your platform plan covers the volume.
Template placeholders
{first_name}, {invoice_id}, {amount}, {due_date}, {invoice_url}, {ticket_subject}, {service_name} and more.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a WHMCS SMS alternative?
Yes - it replaces per-message SMS gateways for client notifications. WhatsApp messages cost you nothing per message (your platform subscription covers volume), and read rates are far higher than SMS or email.
Which WHMCS events can trigger WhatsApp messages?
Invoice created, invoice paid, staff ticket replies, service/module activation, new client welcome, and an admin alert for every new order. Each has its own toggle and template.
Where do client phone numbers come from?
Straight from the WHMCS client profile. Numbers like +92.3001234567 are normalized automatically, and a default country code handles local formats starting with 0.
Does it need the official WhatsApp Business API?
No. You link your own WhatsApp number with a QR scan - no Facebook verification, no template pre-approval, no Meta per-conversation fees.
What happens if a send fails?
The module logs every failure to the WHMCS Activity Log with a whatsappapi: prefix, so debugging is one search away. Your invoices and tickets are never blocked by a notification failure.
